WORLD TOUR READY TO ROCK
Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits has debuted at Number 1 around the world and on the Billboard European Chart with their three-decade spanning retrospective that also includes their latest hit single, “What Do You Got?”
Underlining their status as one the world’s biggest bands, the release is a new Bon Jovi “best,” charting higher and selling more copies in its first week than the band’s 1994 CROSS ROADrelease, which has sold 21.5 million copies to date worldwide.
Bon Jovi Greatest Hits debuted in the Top 5 in over 20 countries around the world including in the US, where it is the #1 charting rock release, the UK, Germany, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, New Zealand, Argentina and Korea. The album entered the charts at #1 in Japan, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, Portugal, and Mexico. The album held at #1 for 2 weeks in Portugal and Ireland and remains at #1 for a second straight week on the European Billboard Album Chart.
But it is not just about the anthemic smash hits that have become Rock staples over the last three decades. The band’s latest hit single, “What Do You Got?” is climbing the charts as the fastest growing radio single in Bon Jovi history.
The band’s extensive global campaign started in the UK with a storming X Factor performance and an ITV special in advance of the Greatest Hits release, before closing the MTV EMAs where they were honoured with the first ever Global Icon Award.
In the U.S., television performances included CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, NBC’s The Today Show and A&E’s Private Sessions while their intimate release week concert at Best Buy Theater in NYC was broadcast live to millions on YouTube. Throughout the Thanksgiving holiday, Bon Jovi will appear on ABC’s American Music Awards (Nov. 21st); the syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show (Nov. 23rd); CNN’s Heroes (Nov. 25th); and Larry King Live (interview only, Nov. 29nd).
Bon Jovi’s last release, The Circle, was their 11th studio album and also debuted last November at #1 in numerous countries including the U.S. A massive world tour followed the release and was named the #1 tour for the first half of 2010 by Billboard and Pollstar.
Now, the iconic band has announced a series of new dates in the U.S., Canada and Europe, with additional dates being added by demand. The Bon Jovi 2011 Tour, promoted by AEG Live, kicks off in North America this February.
Globally, the Grammy® Award-winning band has sold more than 120 million albums, and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. For more information on all things Bon Jovi, visit www.BonJovi.com.
