MUTYA BUENA, KANO & CRAIG DAVID ADDED TO THE MOBO AWARDS LINE UP
Today the MOBO Awards have unveiled the latest additions to their start studded line-up -
Mutya Buena, Kano and Craig David.
The awards ceremony on the 19th September, already boasts appearances from platinum selling rapper 50 Cent, r’n’b heart throb Ne-Yo, soul singer Robin Thicke, reggae artist Shaggy and rappers T-Pain and Yung Joc.
The UK’s own shining star, Mutya Buena, will grace the MOBO Awards stage to perform her top 10 single ‘Real Girl’. Since her departure from pop band The Sugababes, Mutya has successfully launched a solo career and has since been nominated in this year’s MOBO Award newcomer category.
Previous MOBO Award winners Craig David and Kano will perform their new single ‘This Is the Girl’. This will be the first UK stage appearance Craig David has made since 2005! Both performing for a second time at the MOBO Awards, this special collaboration will ignite an explosive evening!
Shaggy will co-host the first ever Awards ceremony to take place at the O2 Arena alongside Jamelia. Joining the hosts will be celebrity presenters including previous MOBO nominee and star of BBC's 'Dragon’s Den' Levi Roots, Frank Bruno, Cathy Tyson, Angelica Bell, Monty Panesar, and Quentin Tarantino.
A night of ‘Jaggy’ inspired fun promises to follow on September 19th.
50 Cent, Mutya Buena, Kano & Craig David, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, T-Pain & Yung Joc, and Shaggy will all perform for the crowd of fans, media, celebrities and industry figures.
50 Cent
In 2003 50 Cent picked up three MOBO Awards for Best Single, Best Album and Best Video after the release of his certified six times platinum debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. This year 50 Cent will return with his 3rd album ‘Curtis’, with the lead single ‘Ayo Technology’ featuring Justin Timberlake and Timberland already making its way up the charts. 50 Cent is nominated in the Best Hip Hop category
Mutya Buena
Former Sugababe Mutya Buena has emerged as a solo artist into one of the strongest new talents in the UK. Her debut album ‘Real Girl’ released in June 2007 entered the charts at number 10 and features collaborations with Amy Winehouse, George Michael and Groove Armada.
Kano & Craig David
Brit favourite’s Kano and Craig David are set to perform their first collaboration, forthcoming sure-fire hit ‘This is the Girl’. Kano is this year nominated for two MOBO awards.
Ne-Yo
New album ‘Because of You’ confirmed Ne-Yo as one of America’s brightest stars. Signed to the Def Jam label he has also written songs for Whitney Houston, Enrique Iglesias, as well as smash hit ‘Irreplaceable’ for Beyonce. He is currently working with Britney Spears on her comeback.
Robin Thicke
Latest album ‘The Evolution of Robin Thicke’ cemented Robin’s position as the modern star of blue-eyed soul. A commercial and critical success the album features collaborations with Pharrell, Busta Rhymes, Faith Evans. His latest musical partnership is with superstar 50 Cent.
T-Pain & Yung Joc
Two of America’s hottest rappers signed to Akon’s Konvict music label, and P Diddy’s Bad Boy South respectively team up for their hit ‘Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’)’.
SHAGGY
MOBO Award winner Shaggy is one of the most successful dance hall artists in the world. In his 10-year career he has recorded 6 albums, had 5 #1 single and has sold a whopping 20 million albums worldwide. This year he makes a return to the charts with a new album and the new single ‘Church Heathen’.
