NAOMI CAMPBELL CELEBRATES HER 25TH ANNIVERSARY IN THE FASHION WITH AN AUCTION IN AID OF
WHITE RIBBON ALLIANCE AT ARTCURIAL BRIEST-POULAIN-F.TAJAN
The famous model and global fashion icon is donating a
“Birkin” bag to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her
involvement in fashion industry. The bag, by as iconic
Hermès, is made from light green alligator and will be
auctioned in benefit of the WHITE RIBBON ALLIANCE
charity, by ARTCURIAL Briest-Poulain-F.Tajan in Paris. It
will be presented for the first time in Monaco on 25th, 26th,
27th & 28th August during the jewellery and watches
exhibition.
All proceeds from the sale of Naomi Campbell’s HERMES
bag will be used to ensure that pregnancy and childbirth are
safe for all women and newborns in every country around the
world; along with the charity’s patron, Mrs. Sarah Brown,
wife of the British prime minister, the international star of
the catwalk, is once again supporting the WHITE RIBBON
ALLIANCE’s cause. The WHITE RIBBON ALLIANCE is the
biggest charity in the world fighting mortality among women
during pregnancy.
Artcurial Briest-Poulain-F.Tajan, the leading French auction
house, has been organizing Vintage Hermès sales for 12
years and for the past three years has been offering an historic piece belonging to a celebrity to raise money for
charity. In 2007, Jane Birkin sold her own "Birkin" bag for €74,000 (a world record for a leather bag) in favour of
The International Federation for Human Rights (F.ID.H.); in 2008, we sold a unique piece featuring a portrait of
the Princess Grace donated by HRH the Princess Stéphanie for €52,000 in favour of Fight Aids Monaco.
On each occasion the event, attended by the artist, has received enormous media coverage and has become a
highly anticipated and unmissable event.
Since 2007, the interest shown by enthusiasts and collectors in VINTAGE HERMES has constantly increased. This
was demonstrated by the proceeds raised from the last sale to date, which raised 725,000 euros with more than
84% of the lots sold.
The growth in sales by this department and the great success of the themed sale "A history of Man" strengthen the
place occupied by object of collection and vintage within Artcurial Briest-Poulain-F. Tajan, the European leader
with two VINTAGE HERMES sales a year (213% increase in 2008).
