Wins Fifth Grammy Award
**Performs Tribute To Les Paul With Imelda May**
**May also features on new studio Album**
Jeff Beck won his 5th Grammy Award in Los Angeles last night and then performed a tribute to guitar hero Les Paul to a star-studded auditorium.
The British legend followed his second induction into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame last year with a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for his track ‘A Day In The Life’ from last year’s album ‘Performing This Week…Live At Ronnie Scott’s’.
One of the few British winners on a night dominated by Americans, Beck underlined his legendary status as one of the most revered musicians in the world and performed Les Paul’s How High The Moon with Irish singer Imelda May, who also features on his forthcoming album. Emotion & Commotion will be released in April, his first studio record in 6 years.
Beck is one of the UK’s true music heroes, a visionary musician and guitar god admired by everyone from Eric Clapton, who he famously succeeded in The Yardbirds, to Morrissey, on whose last album Beck appears.
He is recognised by his peers as perhaps the greatest guitarist of them all and had previously been inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Yardbirds.
Beck formed the Jeff Beck Group in 1967 with Ronnie Wood on bass, Aynsley Dunbar drumming and Rod Stewart on vocals. They were credited with forging a blueprint later followed by heavy metal. Since then, he has explored jazz, rock and pop to acclaim and massive respect for his innovative work.
In the 1970s, Beck worked with Beatles producer George Martin on jazz-fusion albums that redefined the rock guitar, before moving into electronic music with keyboardist Jan Hammer.
On recent albums, he has worked with electronica outfit Apollo 440 and David Torn from New York trip-hop group Splattercell. To underline his eclectic admirers, Joss Stone and Imogen Heap joined Beck on stage at London’s Ronnie Scott’s club last year.
In February, Beck will play with Eric Clapton at two joint performances at the O2 Arena.
