Hard2Beat Introduce Their New 2009 Priority Signing

‘Blame It On You’ is a pop-dance classic in the making that introduces 22 year-old half-Swedish, half-West Indian, pop star Gathania. Gathania has already become a household name in Sweden after becoming a finalist on Swedish Pop Idol last year. Since appearing on the show she was inundated with offers of a record deal from around the world. In the end Gathania decided to sign with Hard2Beat a team with a track record in making the kind of hits she wanted to make. Hard2Beat have already struck chart gold with Scandi pop acts such as Basshunter and September.

“Lyrically ‘Blame It On You’ tells the story of a guy who doesn't cherish the girl he's with and how that eventually bites him in the arse!" Gathania explains, “It shows a new brand of Girl Power. It’s about girls taking control and not being walked over.” The track was written and produced by the team that wrote September’s mega global hit ‘Cry For You’, which topped the charts across the world as well as hitting the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot Dance 100 Airplay Chart.

This time two years ago Gathania was a waitress with dreams of pop stardom. She has an incredible passion and knowledge for 70’s disco music such as Earth Wind And Fire, Kool And The Gang, early Michael Jackson and Bee Gees as well as 80‘s pop icons Madonna and Whitney Houston.“Music is my life”, says Gathania, “I’ve always been singing, for as long as I can remember. Signing to Hard2Beat is a dream come true for me. They really get where I’m coming from and listen to my ideas.”

You might be thinking that Gathania is a pretty strange name for a pop star? Well so did her label, initially advising that she change it. But the strong willed Gathania held her ground, “Gathania is my name! Why would I change it?” It’s this kind of attitude and desire to do things her way that sets her apart from other young pop artists out there.

Gathania is this year’s priority signing to Hard2Beat. The label, along with Gathania, has spent its time developing her songs and planning a long term career strategy. In this era of disposable one hit wonders Hard2Beat will release 3 singles and an album, all this year.
